Description: Calcium is one of the major minerals found in all sea salt mixes. However, it is rapidly depleted from aquarium water through biological processes — it is used up by the organisms in the system. It is essential to the health and well-being of the corals in a reef aquarium that all vital parameters in the system are maintained at near seawater levels, including calcium (420-430 ppm), carbonate alkalinity (7 dKH) and magnesium (1300-1400 ppm), which is essential for optimal coral growth. ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ is an ionically balanced product that will replenish and maintain calcium in the reef aquarium at acceptable levels. Regular use will ensure lush growth of purple, pink and green calcareous algae, and stony corals. ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ will not adversely affect the system pH, however, it is known to raise carbonate alkalinity (dKH). Directions for use: Test the calcium level in the system with a reliable test kit before dosing with ECO CALCIUM plus™. If the calcium concentration is below 400 ppm, do the following: ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ AND ECO KALKWASSER functions in a similar manner to the commonly available "Calcium Part A and Calcium Part B" solutions, and should be used together, but mixed separately in two different containers. In container one, mix 1 packet (80 grams) of ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ powder in 1 U.S. gallon (3.8 liters) of deionized/reverse osmosis fresh water to form a stock solution. Do the same, according to instructions, for ECO KALKWASSER. Then, add 1 ounce (30 ml) per 30 U.S. gallons (50 ml/200 liters) of the ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ stock solution AND 1 ounce (30 ml) per 30 U.S. gallons of the ECO KALKWASSER saturated solution into the aquarium daily, until a calcium concentration of 420 ppm is reached. Because the addition of ECO KALKWASSER saturated solution (calcium hydroxide) will cause pH to rise and may adversely affect corals and fish, the ECO KALKWASSER saturated solution should be administered at night, when photosynthetic organisms are inactive and pH is thus lower. Add this solution slowly, either manually, drop by drop, via a thin tube, or using a dosing system. To maintain a calcium level of 420-430 ppm, the recommended dosages for both ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ and ECO KALKWASSER should be repeated weekly. Considerations for use: To encourage purple coralline algae growth, use ECO CALCIUM PLUS™ and ECO KALKWASSER saturated solutions in equal amounts. Caution: For aquarium use only.
